Originally from the Toronto area, Kati recently spent 3 years living in the USA studying theatre, and performing professionally. Kati holds a Bachelors degree in Voice from Queen's University, and a Masters in Musical Theatre Performance from the University of Montana in Missoula. Kati is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and has worked extensively as a director, music director, and choreographer for high school productions, community theatre, charity events, and summer camp shows. Most recently, Kati Music Directed FAME The Musical and The Little Mermaid for Innovative Musical Theatre's inaugural season, and recently completed Music Directing, Assistant Directing, and Stage Managing Anything Goes for the company in December of 2014. She has been a piano and voice coach, as well as dance and acting instructor for individuals of all ages and abilities.
Kati is trained in ballet, jazz, Fosse jazz, tap, lyrical, acrobatics, and musical theatre dance. She was a TA in jazz to Joy French and in tap to Linda Murphy at the University of Montana. Kati holds Grade 8 Piano and Grade 10 Voice diplomas from the RCM and is a two-time provincial champion in Advanced Music Theatre (Ontario Music Festivals Association).
Some of Kati’s favourite theatrical credits include Madame Thenardier in Les Miserables, Muriel in Ken Ludwig’s The Fox on the Fairway, Cha-Cha DiGregorio in Grease, Betsy in Crazy for You, and Haley/Woman 2 in the Pacific Northwestern premiere of Edges. Other credits include Chicago, The Producers, Once Upon a Mattress, Guys and Dolls, The Secret Garden, The Mikado, The Sound of Music, West Side Story, Your Flake or Mine?, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and The King and I. Kati also completed 2 contracts as a Park Swing for Busch Gardens Williamsburg, where she learned and performed over 15 different roles. This fall, Kati was nominated for a 2014 Broadway World Toronto Award in the “Best Cabaret Performance” category for her work in Etobicoke Musical Productions’ May 2014 concert, Spring Into Song. Kati recently placed first in the Open Music Theatre category at the Ontario Music Festivals Association Provincial Finals, meaning she will go on to represent Ontario at the National Music Festival in Edmonton, Alberta this August. When she isn't rehearsing or on stage, Kati has a wide variety of hobbies, including horseback riding, swimming, martial arts, reading a good book, exploring the outdoors, and traveling.
